China Petroleum Network News (Reporter: Zhang Weijian; Intern Reporter: Ding Guanyang) — A new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is reshaping the global innovation landscape. How can traditional oil and petrochemical enterprises achieve leapfrog development through technological innovation? From July 3 to 4, the “2018 Petrochemical Technology Achievement Transformation and Promotion Conference,” organized by the China Petroleum Society and jointly supported by China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec, CNOOC, and Yanchang Petroleum, was held in Beijing. The conference focused on promoting the transformation of technological achievements in the oil and petrochemical industry and accelerating the release of innovation potential.
At the conference, academicians and university experts analyzed the current status and development trends of China’s technological innovation, pointing out shortcomings in basic science, autonomy, institutional mechanisms, and technology transfer. They highlighted the significant role of technological innovation in achieving green, safe, and efficient development in the oil and petrochemical industry, and introduced cutting-edge technological advances in areas such as CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage), oil and gas drilling engineering, and oil extraction engineering. Relevant enterprises in the oil and petrochemical sector shared their technological innovation efforts and applied achievements in exploration and development, refining and chemical engineering, and storage and transportation, effectively promoting broad cooperation and in-depth exchanges across the industry.
The conference collected nearly 200 technological achievements from various fields of the oil and petrochemical industry that were forward-looking, practical, and replicable. Among these, 50 key projects were presented and promoted at the conference. An expert review panel ultimately awarded 10 projects with the Gold Prize and 25 projects with the Silver Prize for the transformation of petrochemical technological achievements. Notably, five projects—including China Petroleum Group’s million-ton ethylene plant industrialization technology—won the Gold Prize, while 14 projects, such as the polyolefin catalyst technology, won the Silver Prize.
During the conference, a platform was also provided for promoting and demonstrating new technologies, achievements, and equipment applications, facilitating cooperation and exchange among petrochemical enterprises. More than 400 participants from oil and petrochemical enterprises, universities, and research institutes attended the event.
